The hardware of the old gen consoles hold new gen back, it is the same as with games developed for pc and console.

Destiny 2 is a full game, the architecture of the original being able to run on old gen hinders new gen consoles. Look up the stats of the PS3 and the ps4 and compare them. The game simply must drop old gen to retain the quality which will be demanded of it in a new market or new gen exclusive games.

I don't think we're being dropped, I've heard rumors they found a loophole.

I doubt it, the specs are too low, they should switch development to next gen and pc rather than retaining old gen. They will drop too many players if they support old hen be sue features like potential 20v20 game modes and larger raid groups will be impossible.
