Then you wouldn't be a Guardian. The Light is what makes you a Guardian. Giving in to the Darkness fundamentally changes you. A dark "Guardian" would have to have an entirely different story from those filled with Light. Giving in to the Darkness means the pursuit of power at all costs as the Darkness believes only the strong can survive.

Also, Eris is not consumed by Darkness. She just lost her Light and refused to give in to the Darkness. I am unsure of Toland. He could have been filled with Light to the very end and had just been incredibly eccentric/insane. The Hive magic may only be usable within the Hive worlds as we never see it used outside of them. Hive magic isn't Dark itself, it's just a byproduct of the power the Darkness gave the Hive. The Vex themselves used their own variation of Hive magic and are not minions of the Darkness.
