Play awakening, see if you like it. It's a bit of a change from the older games, but it's not bad imo. If you like the Awakening side mechanics (relationships and character interactions) you'll like Fates. If you don't like them, just skip on this one.

  • I like character interactions. Getting max support was one of my favorite things to do. My favorite thing overall was upgrading my characters though.

The support system is still there in both awakening and fates, and in awakening and birthright you can get everyone to at least A ranking support (S ranked support is only for those who are going to marry), it takes a long time though, there is a ton of characters (but that also means a ton of side conversations). Also in awakening you not only upgrade your characters but you can then change them to a new class and upgrade them again and again (it lets your characters have a nice long list of skills to choose from and makes it so that you can max out their stats). I am pretty sure this is still a feature in fates but best buy hasnt delivered my copy yet and i dont want to know much about the game before hand.

  • Is it still turn-based?

  • Yes i dont think that will ever change. The fighting is still set up the same way of move your group and then the enemy group moves. There are just different kinds of unites, and in fates the weapons triangle has been played with a little (change it to include bows and some newer weapons in the triangle).

  • Awakening and fates are only on 3ds, but sacred stones and i think the one just title fire emblem for north america are available on the wiiu eshop (but not on the 3ds eshop for some stupid reason).

  • I would have sacred stones i got my 3ds on release but i was one day late in registering it online, i wasnt in a place with internet and i thought the whole registration thing when on for one day longer then it actually did. I have been so freaken annoyed about that, and even more annoyed that i know all the programming is done to put it on the 3ds eshop and yet those idiots wont put it up for sale.

  • I really dont understand their decision making process. It isnt event a hard thing to do, some hackers decided to see if it would be difficult to take get a game ready for resale on the eshop and they said it takes very little. In fact it takes next to no effort if the game is already on the wiiu or 3ds eshop, in other words there is no reason that all old games are not available on both systems. These are all old games any sales are simple and pure profit. Just make it available for both and let the consumer decide which one they want (or make it so that when you buy it you have it for both systems, or at least offer a special deal if you want it on both systems for what ever reason). If it wasnt for nintendo making amazing games they would be bankrupt because they apparently lack any kind of basic business sense.

  • At all the (New)3DS(XL) systems are Nintendos main source of income If they hope to sell more WiiU units with this 'method' theyre wrong Probably they get the contrary and people decide to play them on emulators because there the games are free and they can play them on theyre smartphone (GBA games)

  • The wiiu isnt even going to be much use for much longer they went and announced last E3 that they would announce their new console this year. Which was a really dumb move because it made every game announced for the wiiu seem already like it would be old by the time it came out, or would have a pushed back release date to be on the new system. Most everything other than wii and gamecube games should be available on the 3ds, other than those two systems, all other systems have games that would work fine on the ds (and in many cases the games work better on the ds than the wiiu since the screen is smaller, gameboy games on wiiu do not look good).
