The other thing about the Battlefield series is RNG is not the only path, it is in parallel with a progression based path. Therefore, even if you get terrible rolls (welcome to my world) on the battle pack (RNG side), you still have the progression based path to earn the leveling rewards. The battle packs only serve to provide a possible acceleration to elements of the progression. (Reference to Battlefield 4, didn't get Hardline)

I honestly love battlepacks, they're a fun way to incorporate rng into a game, it isn't game breaking, its not pay to win, and there's still a way to earn the item through progression. Battlepacks are also nice in the way where if you're a high level and want to try a new gun, a lot of the attachments are already unlocked, so you can just deploy with it at the ready.

Edited by RavenousLD3341: 2/17/2016 12:07:24 PMThis is true. Which i like, you can control half of the loot just by using a weapon you like, but there's a chance that a battlepack gives you something really useful for that weapon that you haven't unlocked yet. I was a very cool hybrid progression system, and i really enjoy it. But depending on the weapon, there were only certain attachments that are available via battlepack. Like the American made M4, you can get the HOLO sights, and the sights commonly used by the us military, but battlepacks dropped sights associated with Chinese and Russian weapons On the other side Chinese weapons can unlock chinese sights, but you have to battlepack american and russian sights. Check it out next time you play.

In my opinion a dual leveling path would help players in Destiny feel 'rewarded' and it would eliminate the 'forever 29' issue of year 1 and the 'forever <320' of year 2. If on the RNG side you always received Strange Coins and Horn Kits you would still be able to level through the progression side and not just grind for items that provide repetitive sub-par 'rewards' that make take additional player time to dismantle into materials, not to mention the trips to pick them up at the post master before they start dropping off. All of the additional steps break the flow of the game and waste player's time.
