My friend got a TG from his first ever nightfall today and he has no appreciation for it, RNG can be a bitch

This happened with my Gjallarhorn in Y1. Got it in my first ever VoG (Exotic Chest) at level 26/27. Everyone raged and I was like "whut?"
-
Dude I helped my buddy complete his first nightfall in year 1 & bastard gets a ghally & he has the nerve to ask me if it's any good hahaha
-
Haha, that sounds about right.
-
My first Gally was from a legendary engram I got for helping my friend with the daily story, I was so excited and he didn't even care
-
Haha nice I got my first ghally from hard crota along with the crux & the helm it was a good day !
-
Nice, I am still quite nostalgic about a lot of Y1 stuff like that, I've got some great memories. I had the crux from my 2nd HM run and I didn't bother to get Necrochasm until around July because it was just so awful
-
I remember I was stoked & I used the nerco then I lost all hope year 1 was a lot of fun hahaha good times
-
Wooooooooww same with my friend that kept getting Crimson/sugary shells every other game. Even in regular PvP the rewards seem to be bad drop rates.
-
But then you compare it to Pre-HoW Y1 and remember how one legendary drop in a single game of Crucible used to be like a 2% chance
-
Haha yeah I remember that. SmoggyPluto rose to destiny fame from that lol
-
I know, if you're lucky, you're lucky I guess, not much we can do. Although I did remember a Weekly Update ages ago saying it will reward the more highly skilled players, but have yet to see a noticeable trend
-
That did happen and I felt that change. I got ash factories, and party crashers consistently when they announced and implemented it. But it seems Bungie lowered the PvP drop rates when TTK launched. Or at least it feels that way.

A slight drop but not too much, I still sometime felt though that I could do the best and not get rewarded at all, but HoW was very rewarding to everyone and it got a bit ridiculous with reforging
