I didn't like that all the enemy races are in cahoots or whatever.

Only for a little while. Be sure to check out the rest.

That's the thing though, the Darkness in the Grimoire is just the general title given to any enemies that entered our system with the Collapse. The only race(s) that may truly have a connection to the Darkness in some ways are the Vex and the Hive. With this in mind, you have to keep in mind that only the Fallen have had interactions with the Hive, Vex, Cabal, and Taken; if there's only one race that has faced everything our system has to offer, why would they all suddenly ally with each other? It's not as though the Fallen could persuade the Cabal, masters of war. They're too primitive. As for the Vex, they would be obliterated. We see this on Venus. The Hive are basically lost cause for negotiation; have you seen what happens when the enemy moves against each other on Earth? The Taken aren't of their own will, and Oryx will not negotiate with those his Sword Logic determines as unworthy.

It would be more likely the Cabal to persuade the Fallen than the other way around, and the reason I had the vex manipulate both of them was because it made the most sense tactically, the hive were the ones who attacked opportunistically since their structure of command would be the most disrupted.
