Maya was a human researcher in Ishtar who was developing tech at Clovis bray she met a guard named Cade who is also a human during her research and craft of an advanced technical system she called a warmind a tear in time appeared and she saw a great darkness coming to the galaxy destroying everything after she finished her warmind project she created Rasputin to guard the earth but she thought back to the vision she had seen she decided to create a fleet of ships to escape to the far reaches of the solar system she didn't have enough funding though but Cayde had become smitten with her and to raise funds for the fleet he sold his body to Clovis bray so they could use it for their latest creation exos he had his memories transferred into a robotic body but when he saw maya sundaresh she was disgusted with him and his new robot form she thought he was being selfish and wanted to live forever she left later with her fleet and Cayde stayed behind on Venus and earth maya survived the darkness and its impending attack but sh and her fleet of people were tainted by the dark and the light and became what we now know as the awoken and maya sundaresh became Mara Sovereign queen of the awoken
