Nobody should be drafted. Our military is so absolutely massive that there would never be a need for a draft unless the world went back to mostly ground troop warfare (which would never happen). I'm sick of seeing all this conservative propaganda saying that our military has never been smaller and shit like that. Think about it. How many people from your high school are now in the military? A significant amount.

Yes. I'd legitimately like to know whether it's true or not. It just seems like a low number to me

I tried googling it myself by I didn't find anything... Reliable. I feel as if you're correct though, or that your numbers are at least around the right number because most of what I found indicated similar.

They are correct im in the army, and the military is downsizing even more trying to cut out the people who have been given to many chances for weight, pt, and drug violations...

Do you expect grandma to be a marine? Or her seven-year-old grandson? Or the disabled man down the street?
-
do you even know how the draft works? anyone between about 18-24 is eligible for the draft. Anyone NOT that age cannot be drafted. Anyone that age who is disabled, in full time college, or considered unstable would not be eligible.
Do you expect grandma to be a marine? Or her seven-year-old grandson? Or the disabled man down the street?
as of 2010 there were around 60 million American males fit for military service and around 59 million females fit for military service.

That is a much smaller ratio.

Edited by steg567: 2/7/2016 7:52:13 PM
That is a much smaller ratio.
my whole point was that the United States has around 1-1.5 million members and if needed there is a large pool of people fit for military service, enough that if needed we could double the size of our military. Also it is true that the United States military has been getting smaller but that doesn't mean that its been getting weaker. The United States military is one of the(and in the opinion of many, the) most powerful Militaries ever, with the ability to project power all over the world. While yes the military is smaller it is not weaker due to our massive technological superiority and highly trained and superbly equipped military the United States can take on any major military power in the world and likely win.
