Will you be able to host private servers so only you and a group of friends can play?

If you have a separate xbox that you can use as a server. That's the only way
-
Really?! Do you think they will change it later on? Because I have a ps4 and my brother has one and we just want to play on a private server with each other when it comes out in June.
-
You can do a private game... but it limits you so much, I did that for a bit and it kinda sucked. What was really annoying about it was you had to be withing 180 meters of each other
-
Ah man that's sounds like Far cry 4 co-op. Thanks for info though. I guess I'll have to join a server with others and try to get my bro in with me.
-
It's a fun game, if you're looking to just play and not worry about other people play on a pve server. That's what I started on, now me and my friends play on a pvp server. Lots of fun that's how I can explain it.

You can also just host an undedicated match with up to 4 people, if you want to do that. It has some restrictions, but works effectively.

Edited by GinkoTheMushishi: 2/4/2016 1:36:51 AMWill I still get all the features in a undedicated server? Or will I be missing out on stuff?
-
You get all the features, but there are some restrictions most notably, everyone who joins in on you will be restricted to only going 180 meters away from you. They cannot go too far from the host.

Ok thanks that's what cobra told me as well. Kind of sad about that :( the thing I'm worried about is the game being like Dayz where who ever you see will try to kill you and loot your stuff kind of bothers me but I guess it adds to the immersion and realism factor.

It can be like that, but it's usually to a lesser extent in this game. The bigger thing to worry about is raids, but when you get better you will find ways to eaily prevent such outcomes. If you can find the right server to join, you will find a lot of civility. Its an odd mix to explain, but I can assure you that it's not nearly as bad as DayZ in that aspect. Still, always best to be cautious For instance, the server I'm on, Despite being PvP, has very little player conflict. We do defend our lands just in case of attack, and occasionally there are issues, but we try to keep it civil. Attack only when attacked, never destroy whole bases, never hunt to extinction, etc. I'm actually in the process of setting up mock bases to use for competitive raids we organize, with resources as a prize. There is always the option of you joining a PvE server. Players can't attack each other or their dinos in PvE servers, so the focus is entirely turned towards building, hunting and taming. A bit dull in my opinion, but it's there as an option. You also aren't restricted to just 1 server, so you could always have 1 PvE character and 1 PvP character to get both experiences.

What exactly does undedicated mean?
-
It just means that instead of the server being hosted elsewhere, it's hosted locally on you console. Which means you start up your own world and other people join in on you. The quality of connection depends entirely on the host's connection.

Aaaaaah so instead of the devs hosting the server your hosting it on ur console? I think I got it
