All the people replying by talking shit about the 'Huntard'...
I want to start by saying that Hunter is my least-played class. For PvE, Titan. For PvP, Warlock. So, I was running the Nightfall with a friend yesterday. Since Solar Burn is active, he was running Gunslinger. At one point near the end, we encountered some Majors grouped together. My friend activated Golden Gun, and...
It took all three shots to kill one Major. WITH SOLAR BURN ACTIVE. That's just stupid. I'm fairly certain that my Sunbreaker melee was doing more damage. That the Brawler modifier is active, is irrelevant; melee shouldn't do more damage than a Super, period.
Gunslinger needs some sort of buff. If a Hunter says 'F#ck it, I'm switching to Nightstalker' when Solar Burn is active, then something is definitely wrong.

Easy test.... Throw 1 hammer at the two hive knight majors on the moon behind the dome. Result = 2 dead majors Shoot 3 Goldengun shots at same knights. Result = 1 dead knight, 1 wounded knight. Put on nighthawk helmet... Result = 1 dead knight, 1 full health knight (or wait 20 minutes to line up a double kill) Put on Symbiote helmet... Result = 2 dead knights (provided you didnt miss or run out of time because one juked behind a big rock) Analysis of data collected: Gunslinger -must- equip exotics in order to be almost as effective as 1/8th of a Titans super. Solution: Give GoldenGun ability to do actual precision damage at a high dmg modifier. Reasoning: The majority of Gunslinger perks are designed around precision. The primary weapon of the subclass should follow that same philosophy.

Agreed I shot at a a cabal with a solar shield and it only knocked his shield off I was like wtf that's just stupid. That's it's completely unacceptable considering solar burn was active.
