I wouldn't be bothered by being reminded of it, so that's not a concern. Remembering what used to be doesn't have to be painful or unpleasant, most people just treat it that way because they have trouble handling loss or rejection. I embrace both the good and the bad of my past as a part of who i've come to be. In this case, if a break up does happen, the tattoo will just be a testament of personal history, rather than the here and now, and I wouldn't mind that. But we've already discussed future plans together, and she knows I plan on proposing to her sometime soon, so i'm not worried about it anyway.
