YEAR 2 RUINED DESTINY

Is it just me? Or does anyone else feel like year 2 ruined the good old destiny. Now that year two is here they have gotten rid of so many good and fun to use weapons. ALL OF THE PAST DLCS ARE NOW POINTLESS! As destiny players we paid for those DLCS and now we can't even play them because there is nothing useful to get and no one wants to do them anymore, it just seems like a joke how we paid for those DLCS and now we really can't play them, BUNGIE SCAMMED ALL OF US. This is not fair and it's kinda boring to play destiny, just because year 2 is here doesn't mean u get rid of almost about everything in year 1, share to spread and maybe bring year 1 back

  • You think Year 2 is better? You missed literally all the enjoyful and nostalgic memories. Pelting solar flares at the templar, sending him off the cliff, gee that was fun. I never felt bored in destiny last year and u ask why? I met randoms online, and the more we played the more friendly we got with each and the more fun we had. I met my clan on a lonely run through VoG. We ran it flawlessly, week after week. We moved onto Crota. A bunch of lvl 31s attempting to down a Lvl 33 hard raid felt amazing. Crotas End was one of those raids where on your first run through, you felt the goosebumps on your arms, your forehead was sweaty, and your hands were shaking. And then Skolas. Oh my word he was a biatch. I think my most fond memory of that moment was all 3 of us popping heavy sinths, readying our Gjallahorns for battle and then watching those rockets fly, round after round. But eventually we beat him, sending his screams to hell. Listening to Variks through our comms "Dismantle mines, yesssss?", will always send me back to that prison. My advice to anyone who wants to truly experience those "Become Legend" Moments: Find a clan. You will forget all the negatives you ever hated about year 1. And only then you will find the fun you are searching for. Remember, i met my clan on lfg when i ran VoG in Vanilla. Its never too late guardian. Just Jump.

    • I like year 2 , but you are right . I wish I could do something other then ttk raid but I can not because there's nothing else at that level. Just make Crotas raid level 40 and vault of glass and a lot more people will play and be happy . P.s I do still play but only to do the raid 3 times a week now .

    • Some prefer Y1, others Y2. Got friends that barely played Y1, only picked up Destiny again since changes in Y2. Personally the beta convinced me, stopped playing for months during Y1, and playing almost daily since Y2. Besides that, it's funny to read most comments about "lack of content" as their "solution" would be to have VoG & CE in a level 40 version with Y2 versions of those raid weapons ...

Sadly, I've not felt interested in playing Destiny in about 7-8 weeks. Part of that is because I'm really enjoying BO3, but the big reason is just how much annoyingly grindy things got, without much in the way of reward. I spent hundreds of hours grinding to get every exotic from Y1 on all 3 characters only to have to re-grind for them all in year 2. I just can't be arsed playing to earn them again and then level them and infuse them. Wouldn't be so bad except for all the Y1 content being irrelevant. I want to come back to Destiny in year 2, but I need a compelling reason to.... Give me one Bungie!

I think a year of playing the "old" content was quite enough. A year of the new content with quarterly updates will be enough. And Year 3 will be a totally new experience without any reliance on Y1/2 stuff. I dont feel screwed. I feel like its basically a new game every year...was year 1 expensive? Yeah. Oops. Year 2 is pretty cheap for all the stuff and still the year 1 options (especially if you decided to wait a year -- read that again, WAIT A WHOLE YEAR -- to play this game. All of us year 1 guardians should have had to pay more. We played the thing for a year. Now, I can understand people being a little upset if they bought year 1 destiny in like August and then Year 2 dropped at significantly lower price, but maybe those guardians should have considered buying it earier to enjoy it more or just waiting until year 2. Its not like the year 2 stuff was a secret ever... Also, year 2 inst that far into it. Wait until September before comparing the two. You cant expect as much Y2 stuff when Y2 isnt even halfway over.

        • Play Fallout 4. It will improve your mood and outlook on video games. This game is over as a big name juggernaut. It will always have its loyal player base of around 300K players, but the majority have moved on. We play games for fun and for an escape. If its not fun, don't play it. We know they -blam!-ed this game over themselves and its too bad. I'm almost done cruising this forum too. I envy the ones who are getting in on this game late. I would love this game still if I never knew how awesome it was back in year one. Better to wait these days on the major titles. Let other people beta test for a year....

        • It did it really did, the exotics are mostly meaningless, (Zhalo would have been great for crota, btw) the raid is the only meaningful content and crucible is broken

        • Sadly year 2 was a major flunk for me. The grind and amount of hours required now just can't fit into my free time. When I had my days off I could play for a couple of hours a night. I would get every character up to 200 legendary marks after buying a new weapon. It would take a bit of time but then I would have it upgraded and trial it out in PVE/PVP. If it was no good i'd scrap it (as vault space was limited) and go on with another weapon the next break. All this was possible with my time off but now its a daily grind. I put destiny away about the time MGSV came out and have played it once to see what the sparrow racing was like. My time has been occupied with FO4, MGSV, BO3. I jump on the forums every now and then to check the weekly update for the hope that Bungie has responded to the fact that Destiny is broken. I don't enjoy TTK. The daily grind to get marks, weapons require more xp/time to upgrade, Waiting for the other exotics to be released, no primary elementals from Hard Raid, RNG to get Raid gear at 320. Yr1 exotics required re upgrading(remember TDB outrage from this and then was fixed for HOW) They enticed us with the new Suros with a new perk that changed its characteristics which was awesome to see and I, like may, were hoping the rest would be the same. So far i think that Dragons Breathe is the only other to receive this(haven't been on for a while). Not to mention they split up the perks so you required more of your favorite armor/weapon which takes up more vault space. We had perks such as"More Heavy Ammo" or "Faster Reload Special Weapon" now "More Heavy Ammo For Rocket Launcher" " Faster Fusion Rifle Reload" I will still keep an eye on Destiny because it was a great game. I made some good mates from across the world from it and enjoyed the game play. I would play the older Raids more often if it wasn't for the fact that so many of the people I played with just aren't on because they feel the same way.

        • It is dying. Had 24 friends who played destiny everyday during HoW. A month after TTK I was left with younger brother to play with. Hate to break it to you, but Bungie has killed this game. Reasons: 1. They don't understand how to balance the game. They over nerf things or don't buff things at all. (Example: Sunbreaker, auto rifles and fusion rifles). 2. Raid drops are broken 3. Crucible is shit 4. You know what we have asked for, for over 13-16 months now? "Private Matches." Still haven't gotten them. 5. There is a TTK Quest reward for a ship, but no one has it because no got it as a reward for completing the TTK quest storyline. Don't believe me? Go to the Ship Kiosk 6. Cut content (That is on Activision) 7. Missing shaders (Go check the Kiosk 1/3 of them are missing or not released). 8. Timegated exotics. (And some not seen, Astrocyte Verse, Shinobu's Vow, The Thagomizers). Bungie killed their own game. Destiny 2 will suck.

I disagree. Year 2 has brought changes that have enhanced/improved Destiny, including things like quests, infusion, being able to turn in bounties without going to the tower, streamline of currency, the thrill of hunting for that 'perfectly' rolled gun instead of just reforging it to be like everyone else, and a more balanced crucible. Despite the popular belief, the thing that's ruining Destiny isnt bungie, it's the destiny community. We are making the Destiny experience less fun cause of always searching for something to bitch/complain about on these boards instead of enjoying the game. If you looked at these boards, you'd swear destiny was dying or dead many times over, that everything was op and up at the same time, that the game isnt fun, the game play was broken, etc., when that's far from the truth. And, no, that's not saying the game is perfect, it's not, but bungie is trying to improve/fix/make it better/more enjoyable all the time, but for whatever reason, the majority of people that post on here arent satisfied no matter what. If Bungie addresses what they complained about, instead of saying thanks, they complain about something else. Bungie addresses that, they find something else to complain about. The cycle just continues. The same thing goes for those that always scream such and such is op. There is nothing in the game that is op, but there are many things in the game that are overused. Why are they overused? Because the majority of mp communities are sheep, and when people the community listens to (twitchers or youtubers) proclaim something is the most effect and how everyone should be using, the majority tend to follow. Then the ironically sad thing is that those same people will then turn around and complain that everyone is using whatever it is, even though they were the ones screaming from the mountain tops how it was the 'best'. And they also ask for those things to be 'nerfed'. Bungie listens and obliges, and those people complain about how everything is getting nerfed. It doesnt stop there, they then move on to the next 'it' thing, the community follows, and the cycle continues, smh. I say all that to say: instead of playing the game to look for things to bitch/complain about, play the game for fun. Also, instead of just bitching/complaining about everything just cause, use constructive criticism, but dont also forget to show thanks/appreciation as well. Try those things, and your destiny experience will be a lot better.

I think its hilarious how people were outraged by the mediocrity of the launch/vanilla (rightfully so) and when Bungie actually improve their game (slightly less mediocre), they ask for year1. "The good old days" weren't as "good" as you think, shitton of people left. I'm curious, why the -blam!- did you stick around ?? Forget about the game's "potential" and all the crap, its too late for that (a year too late). It began with a monstrous misleading advertisement campaign, continued with more mediocre releases, false promises between every -blam!- up here and there, bizarre design choices, terrible anti-consumer practices and here we are. The level of this game was clear the moment its player-base got upset over a shader/Emote .......

              • How many times do you buy the next version of a game, pay $60 and have to start over? And get less new things than there are in TTK. Bungie could have made TTK a new version charged $60 and made you start over. But they didn't and people complain.

              • The one major thing that year 2 should have differently is to have a new version of VoG and CE. Make it so they are slightly above what they are now (hard+ mode) and drop slightly better gear. But have that gear infusible. Even if VoG was dropping armor at 200 light (or whatever is appropriate for level 30 content) it could be usable when infused. Make a + version of the weapons that are infusible. Slight tweaks so they fit with the new perk system and remove elements from primaries. Not sure how well that would work with PoE because you would need a + version of each tier and getting weapons/armor from variks would require some sort of change. For old raids it would be a nice gesture of goodwill from Bungie and not a huge change. Other than that, I think year two has been pretty good overall. It has some issues, but it corrected a lot of things. The new leveling system isn't perfect, but it is more sustainable in the long run. It sucks that old gear got left behind, but it had to be done to get the new system in place. And with the new system we shouldn't be seeing that happen again.

                • Year 2 isn't half over yet. I'd lay down all the tea in China that their next move is to bring back the old activities with a new rewards system. They gotta let us get some mileage out of the current system. After all, most players aren't max level yet. This is just kinda how this game works. You get a bit tired of it after a few months of a DLC release. Good time to play other games and be recharged for whatever's next in Destiny.

                • I feel exactly the same way. They totally ruined this game and call it "Fixed" lol. All the perks on weapons are garbage now...just dumb things like "more grenade energy from killing minions of darkness" (wtf????). The drops are ridiculous to say the least. Crucible only drops the Ash Factory (crap) and party crasher (also crap) as it has been for like 6 months now. They ruined this game more than I thought possible. I certainly won't buy the next DLC or Bungie game for that matter...I bought dlc late in the game and can't even do half of the things my friends spoke of... Shame on you Bungie, I expected much more from such a large game development team...not less or taken away content.

I just want them to update all the old non-raid legendary weapons and armor, and add them into the Year 2 loot table. It's such a shame that all of our favorite armor and weapons had to be left behind, once again limiting our choices for customization. We don't need another thing like Etheric Light, we just need to have all the old gear updated and added into the loot table to be obtainable, and usable, in Year 2. We now have Infusion, so I don't see why we can't have a Year 2 version of old gear. We already have Y2 versions of Split Shifter Pro, Spare Change, and Party Crasher +1. Why not add the rest? I'm pretty sure players are tired of receiving the same ugly Taken King Vanguard or Crucible armor and weapons over and over every time they turn in legendary engrams, or receive a Faction package after ranking up. All the old Faction and Crucible gear could be obtainable as random rewards from Faction packages, engrams, or Crucible, and Vanguard Gear could be obtainable from Strikes, engrams, or Vanguard packages. All the Queen's Wrath gear, including the armor and ship from Vanilla Destiny, the Supremacy, etc., could all be obtained from Petra Venj in the Reef, either as purchasable Vendor gear, or from ranking up Queen's Wrath. Another thing that occurred to me: Artifacts. These are even more pointless than them adding Light levels to class items. They can't even be shown on your character, they're just...there. Not even any good perks to them or anything, they help to increase your Int, Disp, and Str, but that's about all they're good for. I was really hoping that the artifacts, before they were officially announced, would have been actually usable items that functioned like the Relic in VoG. Ones that were specific to a certain subclass. Each with a unique ability. I'd imagine for the Striker, a large axe like the one the Darkblade uses, or for the Bladedancer, a katana. Each of them would have a set of abilities that were different from your subclass, much like the Relic from VoG had its on set of abilities along with a Super. That would have been interesting and fun to have.

When TTK landed, it felt like there was too much to do, it was just too overwhelming. I didnt blaze through the quests in a couple of weeks like most folk did. I took my time and it gave me plenty to do up until around December. Then the dust settles and all or most quests are done and now there just isnt enough endgame stuff to do. Destiny needs 2 current raids at all times imo. It needs a NF that's challenging (return to orbit upon wipe). People moan about the rewards. Screw the rewards just gimme the blue jizz head again. Even make PoE relevant again.
