Waving Off Heavy

Is it just me, or is it incredibly classless and dirty to wave off heavy then pull it when the other team has rushed? To me, it certainly is. I don't mind clever tactics, but explicitly lying in order to gain an advantage is dirty tactics. Edit: I'm surprised by the amount of people who think casually lying is a good thing.

  • If you dont know enemy players, take the heavy. Simple really. (If they need this kind of crutch, heavy ammo is not going to give them a win)

  • I honestly learned what waving it off was today, some dude waved at me and I waved back. He messaged me after asking what I was doing. I guess you learn something every day.

      • Honestly it's not as universally understood as you may think. I only learned about it last week, and I like to wave when the enemy waves, it's just a fun thing to do.

        • Only if they wave first. If you wave first there is the chance they are just waving back. Not everyone knows what it means. I have also been waving in return just to be supered. If you wave wait and get waved back reset the round. Also in match made pvp don't take one wave as their teams word.

That happened to me in a game last week. We wave off heavy and continue as normal. It comes down to a 2v1. The guy picks up the heavy and blasts my friend and I away. I sent him a message asking why he did it and he said that I was a terrible player just because we waved it off. He also reported me for cheating because "Waving off heavy breaks the game".

        • Here's a little story that's repeated itself many times. Me and my friend hop into doubles, do our fighting and stuff, then heavy comes. The other team waves. We think for a second, then wave back. We then get rushed by the two people, ending with the two of them dead and me alive. My friend respawns at the other heavy. We pick up the heavies and get our kills with them. Game over, we win. Basically, we hopped into the crucible to play the goddamn game and fight, not follow rules and play sweats with randies. You wave off heavy, your funeral since we're just gonna take both of them and wipe you off the map.

        • Bungie can't bring private/custom matches quick enough for these wannabe MLG tryhards. The same kids who complain about heavy being cheap are the same kids who are STILL running around with year one Thorns, Felwinters, Party Crasher, etc. thinking they're being "competitive".

Liars never surprise. Everyone has a 1.9 kd ratio and a 90% win rate. They dont need heavy ammo to wipe the entire enemy team solo while using autorifles. If you try to wave off heavys on a obviously uneven game expect this. If it is close skilled game and they do it just get the lead and go to orbit. Classiest move imo

          • Sounds like a viable strat to me, win at any cost (except exploits/glitches of course), lord shaxx even talks about there not being any mercy in the crucible.

            • Never again. Trials, team waved off heavy, we waved back, then got splattered with rockets as we went to engage. Never waving heavy again.

                  • It's called Sword Logic. Only the strong survive, and only the weak follow pointless rules steeped in morals. You can be as noble and As just as you'd like, meanwhile your opponents will do what they must to ensure survival. In short; you got played. They played you like a damned fiddle! The crucible is no place for mercy.

                    • If someone waves, I wave back. It's polite. Never said anything about heavy ammo! Dancing means no shotguns Blowing kisses means no rocket launches Pointing means no hand cannons Seriously though. In a random game I'm not giving up an advantage.
