I think the fundament is our galaxy or Jupiter (I'm saying this due to the number of moons they speak of) it's a big question I've had on my mind. Anyone want to discuss?

Fascinating bit about Jupiter.... There are connections to be made. Hmm...

Fundament is their planet. Geologically, we can only speculate, but I'm guessing it's a rocky planet several times larger than the earth, with a core that's hollow. We're talking continents bigger than anything we've seen on earth, with oceans hundreds of miles deep. We have to take into consideration that not only was water mentioned, but also the leviathan. Thus far, we don't know any species in this game OTHER THAN the hive that can fare in space without any suit, and I don't think the basis of the hive species could do well in the vacuum of space, either. But then we have the great wave, if we're talking about the beginning of the books of sorrow, where when the moons align correctly, there's a giant tidal wave that will cause an extinction level event. We know that while moons cause a gravitational pull, a wave of gravity in space would more than likely just move things around a bit and not really much else. On the planet level, however, especially with liquid water, we know that a massive gravitation pull can cause huge tidal waves. So... we're talking about a rocky planet roughly the size of Saturn, possibly bigger, with more moons. We also have the species life span to think about, although 10 years on this planet may be 100 earth years, but we must go off the assumption that they have the same year length as we do, because we have no variables there, and the idea of what they're biology may be. I'm guessing that the hive baser species is probably frail and easily broken. Either way, we know that Fundament is a planet.

Edited by The Rat: 1/15/2016 12:29:00 AMSorry my knowledge of the hive isn't great it's hard for me to grasp my mind around certain concepts of theirs. Such as the leviathan and helium drinkers (two things we know nothing about currently). But I know that the leviathan and helium drinkers are different races or perhaps groups of hive. (Maybe)
-
Again, we can speculate. The leviathan was probably the massive guardian of the center of the planet, but not an aggressive one. Apparently, it's large enough to seem like a land scape in and of itself, and that it communicates telepathically. However, the helium drinkers... we do know nothing about them.
-
What do you think the helium drinkers could be or are? Because more than once in the books of sorrow the words "the helium throne" is used.
-
I honestly don't know. It could be another species on the same planet, like the next step on the evolutionary list. It could be the same species that evolved a different way on the same planet due to certain conditions of their locale, like we see with birds, where the beaks of the same species can take up different forms for the food they eat, but they're all genetically the same species. They could be an invasive, non-indigenous species that sees the planet as an outpost, but the conditions on their planet is different. The possibilities are sorta up to the imagination, unless the Helium drinkers show up, either in-game or more in the lore, but considering the god-wave, they're probably extinct, or they're on the other side of the galaxy.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but were the worm gods imprisoned in the core of the Fundament and guarded by the leviathan?
-
Yea the traveler tasked leviathan with guarding the deep (where the worms were banished)
-
I don't know if they were guarded by the leviathan or not, and the only reason I don't know is because while it advised the sisters to turn back, it did nothing to really stop them. I think it was there to just pass on wisdom which wasn't heeded.
-
They're from a distant star system. They've been at this for billions of years. Longer than humans had been around. I suggest looking for a destiny timeline to get the basics down. It really helped me
-
Not billions, more like thousands. The Ecumene is so vast that when the Ammonite civilization ceased to exist, nobody knew till 24,000 years later.
-
Isn't there a card that says something about oryx waging war for millions of years? I'll look again but that was my understanding
-
Also... A lot of what was in the book of sorrows was descriptions of something that happened before. For example, the worms had been trapped in the depths of the fundament for millions of years. Meaning the war between the "Sky" and "Deep" has been going on for quite some time. Also it describes a species who, over the course of a million years of evolution, had developed a parasitic bond with some wierd creature. We know that it took 24,000 years for the Encumene to find out what happened to one of its client races. Afterwhich, Oryx had fights between his sibilings for several thousands years as tribute. During the course of war with the Encumene, he fought for a 100, 40 and then 1000, after which, the Encume was so totally, radically decimated that nobody ever knew about an expansive galatic spanning technological advanced civilization ever existed, with the exception of Taox and the book of sorrows.

Ok I just had my numbers exaggerated lol. I've spent many days at work reading through this, it's still a lot to digest. (But destiny has no story lol) Honestly this concept is more original than any movie released in the last 6 years. The whole concept of "sword logic" and throne worlds and what not could have made an amazing movie. Even the small parts like when Crota allows vex into the throne room, are so incredible.

Bungie is not knew to this. When they were crafting the Halo Universe, people only knew a few things. Humans. The covenant The forerunners Spartan supersolders. The war with the covenant. Sounds familiar huh? Almost the same layout, not exactly, but close. What people didn't know was powerful forgotten tale that took place a million years before. A group of power beings called the Precursors groomed two powerful races, Ancient Man and Forerunners. The Precursors wanted humanity to obtaind the mantle, this made the early forefunners mad and went on a genocidal campaign agaisnt their masters, eventually winning. The remants went into hiding and the ancient Humans never knew what happened. The remaining precursors were in hiding for so long that the "dust" they had morphed into, to hide was corrupted and when they tried to re-form back to their shapes, they became what we call, The Flood. Anyways, thats lore for another forum. Point is, Bungie loves creating an entire universe that we will never experience, only by reading and a color imagination can we ever experience it at. Lets hope we can get a Destiny "Prequel".
-
That's really amazing. I didn't know that's where the flood came from. Most of the rest I've picked up after 9 years of playing halo (04 kid) How would a destiny prequel work? My only confusion would be character transfer. Unless maybe we go back into the VoG and get transported to like the beginning of the city age. Turns out the only reason the iron lords held the walls was because of our intervention from the future (maybe an alternate timeline) idk But I could easily think of concepts for 20 expansions based on the grimoire and lore I've read online.
-
Yeah thats a tough one. If anything, it wouldnt be a character transfer, more like a brand new protagnist, remember, these folks didn't have "Supers" like us...infact, I don't think any species, race, advanced civilization had anything like the Guardians we know of today. In the past they were new, weak and fractured. Of course they got their ass handed to them by Crota, but when you think hard about it, the Guardians of today, You, me and the rest of the community, are THE latest generation to mature, in a sense, we killed TWO hive gods and several powerful baddies like Atheon and upper cabal echelon, despite what we read in the Book of Sorrows, WE, US, Six guardians were able to defeat a powerful being in a mere TWO hours...where civilizations full of life, numbers and supreme technological feats were unable to do in a span of over 50,000 years, give or take a few thousand. But inregards to a prequel, it'll be a nice change in pace, it'll be more story based and how the crap hit the fan, obviously we already know the ending, so it'll be more so to satiate our taste for lore knowledge and curiosity that lingers on what was happening during those dark campaigns.
-
I would love to play that game. I honestly would. But I don't think the community would respond too well to a new character and a new story. "We wasted a whole year on this prequel character waaahhhhhh" Unless it was its own stand alone game. Like how rouge one gets a movie this year. Either way, bungie really needs to step up their enemy in each expansion/sequel. We already killed 2 gods as you said. The cabal are a conventional military force. They're gonna have to get creative in the era that focuses on them. No time travel or hive magic or fallen assassins. Just typical military force. I'm sticking with this game based solely on the possibilities the lore has created for story.

Edited by ZeroCool: 1/15/2016 6:43:05 AMToward the end if the Destiny lifespan, its safe to assume that at some point, we will face the true "Darkness". Maybe its somthing only Xbox one and PS4 can pull off, with them focusing only on those TWO consoles and dropping the X360 an PS3, we can have a true Destiny next gen experience. More enemies, more customization, better graphics and maybe even 60 FPS, though it'll be tough, I'm sure with enough optimization, they can pull it off. I think Cabal may be next, like a new Valus. Its hinted in one of the Cabal cards that the current force of cabal are really just an expeditionary force, that the true elites and powers of the cabal are back home in the empire. I feel what I read was a prelude to a great Cabal power we have yet to see.
-
Yes and on one mission you're informed that the cabal sent a distress signal to the empire which they received. As excited for cabal as I am, all I've heard points to another vex themed expansion. Maybe destiny 2 will feature both vex and cabal. 2 raids. That would certainly make up for 0 "dlc" in year 2. I'm a little upset that oryx spanned many galaxies and conquered countless civilizations and "took" them, yet he attacks is with only cabal/fallen/vex taken. Bungie dropped the ball there.
-
I never knew that about the Flood! That's amazing!!

Edited by ZeroCool: 1/15/2016 3:54:14 AMYou're on the right track, it was more like he raged war for a thousand years. Book of sorrows.
