Moral of the story; don't tell us we're wrong about our concerns for the game with no real data to back you up.
I never said you were wrong about concerns with the game, or wrong for being upset. We know there are always things we can improve. Sols was not wrong for asking for balance changes to move back to pre-1.1.1, that is a perfectly valid opinion to have. I talked about Suros being considered a "must have" by many in that era and the fact a lot of players where using ARs due to how effective they were. A lot of players agreed with this and replied that only Suros should have been nerfed. Which is a fair point.
A lot of players would like us to leave the sandbox alone forever, while others are always asking for changes. Neither are wrong, they just have different opinions.

Edited by TheWinterSoldier: 1/11/2016 5:47:12 AMThey do this to keep you playing and chasing the new meta and when you finally have they'll change it again. They don't care about true balance. All they want is to increase the grind. If they were actually after true balance, they would just adjust the OP weapon, not the entire archetype. They've shown they can do this but they don't because then you wouldn't chase the new god rolled gun everyone else is using.

Bring back Prison of Elders in Year 2! Make it levels 40, 41, and 42. Get creative bungie. Make something spectacular for PvE! P.S. Please make it free. The Destiny community doesn't want to pay more for the game unless it is a major DLC.

COZMO. I would like an explanation why it was decided to nerf instead of buff. Destiny is about "becoming legend". If a weapon is "OP" that means you created it correctly. Leave it alone it is perfect. Now go make another weapon "OP". I believe the goal should be to have the same amount of "OP" weapons in each class. When Hawkmoon, Thorn and Last Word ruled you should have decided we have 3 "OP" hand cannons let make 3 "OP" AR's, SR's and Auto's. I would love to know Bungie's perspective on this please.
-
Buffing without nerfs is an awful idea. Then you end up with a game like CoD with highly unpredictable times to kill, and no real balance.
-
That makes no sense. How is a bunch of 3 shot kills less predictable than a bunch of 6 shot kills? All nerfing does is make us weaker in PvE.
-
By nerfing instead of buffing you end up ruining PvE. The core of the game. For instance Hawkmoon is pathetic now it's not worth an exotic slot. It used to be a powerhouse in PvE now it's a joke.
-
I never said to not buff. I just said to not only buff. You should never only buff in a game. Nerfs are just as important as buffs. The problem, however, is how Bungie goes about doing it. They classify a whole subclass as broken and either nerf or buff them all in the name of two, and don't extensively test the weapons they're tweaking. That's what causes these abnormal damage differences in weapons. And as far as pve goes, that can be simply fixed by separating the pve and pvp weapon balances. If something is too op in pvp, that typically doesn't effect its usage in pve. By separating the patches they push, both sides of the game would become more balanced.
-
Don't want any "power surges" from buffing to much.

Edited by Synge_X: 1/8/2016 6:20:04 PMI say this with all due respect: don't mistake people who want balance between weapons and weapon classes for those who want a constant seasonal change in Meta. In fact, I can't think of anyone who wants the rotating Meta. Even though I support Nerfing weapons that fall out of balance, eventually I want to see an end to the tweaking in hopes that I can use any weapon class and be effective. The rotating meta in my opinion, is a cheap way to influence people, namely casual players to try new weapons. Just nail down a good balance that is supported by hard metrics, and neutralize problems individually posed by new additions. Please!

Edited by kosta1590: 1/8/2016 5:24:05 PMI thought the way Bungie was "keeping the game fresh" was to constantly introduce new weapons to the game, hence the reason all year one weapons were originally left behind. Instead of guardians getting progressively stronger, everything has been nerfed to shit. If you guys want to go back to halo where you shoot the enemy for days to get a kill then get back into halo. Actions speak louder than words and it looks like Bungie still hasn't put together a solid direction for this game after everything was reworked before the game launched. It's been over a year now. Get it together.

I honestly think right now you are really close to a balanced game you literally just need to cap all snipers at certain AA I personally think the higher impact ones should have less to gain diversity 1000 yard stare impact snipers should cap at 30 black spindle/efrideets spear should be caped at 30 to patients and time and here after should be around 35-40 any lower impact should stop at 50. THE LAST WORD: Not hand cannons just the last word. Now am really really sick and tired of a guy only beating me because all he needs to do is look at me and hold shoot every one complained about it before because it was over used and overpowered all you did was nerf the range and buff everything else sorry but why did that need a buff? That gun is well overdue a nerf It could do with an accuracy in range nerf and a base damage nerf so instead of hitting 60 to the body with soft ballistics or whatever the 1st ballistic is it hits 50 I think that is reasonable and maybe the AA value because it was increase maybe take a bit off. As for the thorn it is pretty balanced its always going to be strong I feel I'd rather it stay how it is now then get better or worse if u really wanted to nerf it I think fire rate would be a good choice I don't use the thorn much kind of liked it when it had 6 in the mag. Anyway pulse rifles are good a lil strong I personally feel a accuracy in range nerf could really help maybe have the projectiles split a lot more down range keeping everything else how it is. Shotguns are good range finder is a bit shaky on some shotguns I feels like a good idea but the conspiracy theory feels real long range fuision rifles I honestly think should be reset back to original because and re worked because of how many nerfs. Sidearms are fine. that in my opinion is the only weapon changes needed. I would really like to see thermal vent fixed on the sunbreaker fixed and the burn over time nerfed apart from melting point and smoke to be changed up and a radius fix. If anyone does read this thank you bungie definitely consider some of these.

Good job cozmo , we love you Mean it

How about a lil focus on PVE? Destiny was advertised as a PVE focused game with PVP as an added bonus. Seems like PVP is getting all the attention since day one release. Thankfully I had Fallout 4 come out when it did cuz the field is in a major drought this time.
-
*stealthily deflects question about mass-nerfing
-
Ahhh, caught with your pants down. It's best to stop talking Cozmo, there is no way to win this one. You said something dumb, just apologize and move on. DeeJ constantly tried to put out his own idiot fires, and now we have you. Don't do what DeeJ did
-
It seems everytime someone at Bungie opens their mouths, something stupid comes out.

I agree with you Coz, the game is more balanced than ever before, and I hope it stays this balanced. No 2 shot kill guns and each gun types feel like their streangths and weaknesses are well balanced. When the next patch comes though, I feel that the current meta only needs a bit of tweaking here and there to improve the balance even more. Fusion rifles especially need some buffing.
-
*body shot with sniper* *one hit headshot with MIDA* Okay, that's balanced
-
Edited by RaveEX: 1/8/2016 12:14:33 AMWhat about body shots with snipers? Almost nothing has changed about snipers, in fact they have received only nerfs since destiny's first patch. And since when could Mida one shot consistently? I have never gotten one shotted by the Mida or ever heard of people getting one shotted until u mentioned it.
-
Oh wait I read his post again I think he's saying that people are landing a body shot with a sniper and following up with a headshot from a Mida. Which sounds perfectly fine to me why would that be a problem? I would think any headshot that follows from a sniper body shot would kill?
-
It's best not to interrupt someone when they're being irrational. Neither of his points are remotely true. Never has Mida killed a full health guardian in pvp with one single headshot.
-
It's sad to say this ....but maybe you should look at your buddies at activision and use what COD uses for weapon balancing . Hand cannons don't exist bcus of the thorn, auto rifles disappeared bcus of the suros, ice breaker set back all snipers, fusions were one hit then the nerf birthed the shotgun era, and the best fail of all is when the G-horn made(still applies) every thing in the heavy slot suffer to the point the only thing really worth running is the exotic ach sword..... Oops I hope I didn't cause that to get looked at for nerfing ......oh and one more thing , you nerfed Blade dancer to a joke to use and buffed warlocks and Titans
-
House of wolves era was fine all you guys had to do was fix thorn and the last word along with buffing the auto rifles and things would've been good. I don't know why you guys go overboard with things.
