Hi there,
Are you using wifi? If so, please try switching to a wired connection temporarily. This is an important first troubleshooting step to rule out wireless signal strength/stability as a possible cause.

Thanks for the input. Yes I am using a Wi-fi connection. On the connection settings the playstation has a 100% connection/signal strength. My roommate however has a direct ethernet connection and still has a Type 3 Connection as well.
