In the original release it was Han. Then they changed it to Greedo to make Han look a bit less like a criminal and more of a hero. Now I think both of them shoot? They've changed things so much it's hard to keep track.

But Lucas didn't want Han to be a cold blooded killer, so he redid the shot so you can see (barely) that greedo shot 1st. And for some reason they redid it again and had the shots be closer togerher. But star wars was in Lucas' galaxy, so really, Greedo shot 1st.
