Balance for weapon usage makes no sense whatsoever! Every map favors different styles of combat, and people should be adjusting to which weapons fit their style of combat on those particular maps, rather than switching to whatever weapon is the new favored weapon class.
PLAYER CHOICE, not some douchebag in a cubicle at Bungie's Corporate HQ should determine what weapons are used. They should ALL be powerful in defined roles, and players will pick their favorite weapons based on playstyle and map.
The fact that they want to try to create weapon balance based on percentage use is not only outrageous, but it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
People are going to choose long range weapons on long range maps, and cqb weapons in close quarters. We should not be forced into a choice of using auto rifles, for example, on long range maps because they are suddenly the Bungie Dev's favored weapon class.
My opinion? What a bunch of stupid asshats. They should be fired immediately.
[Edit] This only confirms for me what I already thought before: They have no idea what the hell they are doing.

..bump...excellent assessment ..dif weapons for dif maps, OR move into yr preferred weapons' optimal range.. ..

Which brings to mind if this is an MMO why is it the longer we use a weapon, why our overall experience using it doesn't build experience in its usage. The longer you use a blender the better you get with it. Yet in destiny the longer you use it the recoil, sway, and balance stay fixed... and stat bars even get capped making some perks useless. I've got a tripod rocket launcher that has and extended mag. Max rounds is three in the mag. So either of those perks can be useless and waste a perk slot.

I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that they are balancing solely on percentage of use other than lack of comprehension. The continuous balance patches keeping weapons in certain ranges destroys that idea completely. There's never going to be a time when auto rifles will beat a scout rifle at long range. Well unless it's the launch of destiny which did have that problem and they fixed for a reason. Anyway they aren't doing that at all and never said anything like that in the video. To your credit it is stupid, though that's not something anyone was confused about even Bungie.
