Im 14. I immigrated to Canada when I was 4. Death claimed many people close to me so I have experienced what it feels like to lose someone forever. I was bullied for not knowing english. Im not extremely rich or extremely poor. Just a bit below average. But I am grateful. For every act of kindness that I show or that people show to me. Im grateful that my parents raised me to know that money isn't everything and that the world is a cruel place. Im grateful that my parents sacrificed their previous lives just to give me a home and a better future here in Canada. Im grateful as long as I have clothes on my back, food on my plate, friends at my side, and my parents to guide me (Even though they will eventually pass on with the rest of my loved ones). I know when to thank someone. I know when to stand my ground. I know when to fight and when to stay neutral. All because of the examples of my friends and family. Im grateful to them. That is why I found it a bit offensive that you labeled in your post that any child, pre-teen, and teen as if they are all pampered by their parents because I know I sure as hell wasn't. But I do agree with you in a way. My generation is becoming very spoiled and un-grateful. But there are still people that are the opposite of that.
