This is not news. The armory has shown exotics at max light level 330 since TTK dropped. It's coming at some point, but i highly doubt with iron banner.
It more time gated content that will probably drop in the next big update scheduled for spring.

And then it'll be super easy to hit 320. -blam!- the struggle and just wait for bungie to make all their previous content obsolete

Agreed probably be a spring update, since we just got the major update in December that brought more exotics.
