He looks like a relatively normal human being. Which is amazing for his character.
We like to think of things that are evil as different from us. That's why Darth Vader had a mask, Sidious had a destroyed face from force lightning, Maul was a red and black alien with horns.
But Kylo Ren becomes much more when he removes his mask. His not an evil creature or a monster. He's a person. A normal looking person, and I think that symbolism is fantastic.

Sidious got that face from dark side corruption, which happens to most siths eventually.
-
No, Mace Windu reflected his own force lightning back at his face in Episode 3.
-
No, he got that from Dark Side corruption.
-
Um, no. Have you even seen Episode3?
-
Yes. I have. And if you bothered to read the expanded material, you'd know that his face is like that because of Dark Side corruption. And if you insist on using that as your argument, I would like to point out that Luke didn't get a -blam!-ed up face when the Emperor was torturing him.
-
There's no such thing as extended universe. It's all gone. It's from getting the force lightning reflected at him.
-
Fine, you want to use that argument. It's never directly stated that it was the Force lightning. You are just assuming that it was the lightning.
-
It's not an assumption when you watch it happen.
-
Could've edited his ears though like damn I can't see the screen
-
True true lol.
-
I agree but what I thought was funny was when he took off his mask he wasn't sweating and his hair looked nice😂
-
Looks like he spent like 2 hours on his hair.
