The problem with this process is it negatively hurts the community and limits new entry, thus shortening the games lifespan (people play less or they play less with you). As an anecdote: you can only go to college of you have a ph.d., only lawyers should go to lawschool, only being hired for experience on your first job. This system also sounds very biased. "Well he is my friend so give him an extra 3 tries." And if it is not the case, you weaken that relation further and no one will offer their time next time. I see this argument more than i should: "all my friends already did their raids so i can't do mine." Or "everyone is either busy or isn't joining." Take those extra tries to see whats wrong with a team or individual, and then fix the problem. Either help them or teach them a better way to execute. Just yesterday i was told about someone who thought running into the teleporter is how you get teleported. And plenty of times, my first try raid groups have those off days where the smallest, none related things keep happening. You say the stress and strictness motivates, but what if those people were kicked because their anxiety of being kicked made them anxious, and then depressed, and then reinforced because of this imposed self-fulfilling prophecy? What if next time you have an off day on your free day and never get to attempt the raid that week or month again? Compassion goes a long way my friend. Farther than this one particular raid.

  • Too much fluffy care bear talk, life is cruel and unfair so why lie to yourself?

  • This. is. a. game. Not real life, the point of games/entertainment is to escape real life. Destiny isn't a place to prepare yourself or mirror the real world. I don't understand your point.

  • Life does not stop because you turned on Xbox or Playstation. You are right though, people play games (and other activities) to escape into fantasy, not to babysit the stupid and purposefully lazy. Thiers literally no excuse for not knowing raid basics if you can play Destiny, because to play means you have access to the Internet. Youtube alone has visual information on how to do everything in this game PvE and PvP, again no excuses.

  • "There's" absolutely plenty of excuses to why someone wouldn't know the raid mechanics. Not everyone wants the fun of it spoiled, for one. Now hard mode is a different story and i'm not arguing the amount of tolerance or whether or not a group chooses to have a requirement for light level. But comparing or insinuating that the groups we choose to raid with need to reflect the harshness of the real world doesn't make sense to me.
