You're only adding to the problem by giving companies, not just Bungie, the go ahead to add micro-transactions into games we already paid for.
Micro-transactions were never meant for these games, but for free mobile games, as a means for the developer to profit off of a free product. It's a horrible business practice nonetheless, as most of these games make it almost necessary to pay if you want to progress.
Sure Bungie hasn't brought it to that point yet, but this is just the beginning, as it's part of the Slippery Slope that people have predicted.
So no, it's not childish, it's people wanting to save gaming before we have another gaming crash.

WHat microtransactions tell companies is that they can keep content back because they know we'll willingly pay for it later. Why spend $40M do develop a game and DLC pcks when you can spend $20M to develop the game and cut content to later sell as DLC. Spend half the money to devlop and rake in 50% more.

You do realize that even in AAA games the developers are still one of the least paid groups right? Next to the disc printers and distributors. Publishers get the most. Micro dlc supports the devs and allows them to continue to support us. The only people who dislike the idea of micro transactions are those of the entitled kind who feel spending 60$ on a game means they deserve any additional content created after release.

Edited by Trooper8059: 12/16/2015 11:22:50 PMI'm perfectly fine giving Bungie additional money, only if the content was actually worth it, not lackluster emotes, or a single new sparrow design with different textures. And you're right, this money is going to the developers, to the live team for these events, not the content people are interested in. Also, it's kind of hard to support Bungie after all the choices and things they have said about the community. Hard to feel like I'm hurting the developer when they think it's reasonable to charge $30 for something like the Spark of Light and $20 for solely emotes and shaders.

Publishers set the price. Not bungie. Complain about activision. And cosmetics don't have a set value. It's up to the player to decide how they feel about it. It's like me trying to put a real world price on your childhood blanket. It has no value to me. But there is sentimental value for you.

That's not entirely fair. We paid for TTK, not a year's worth of continual content updates. I "beat the game" before SRL and any other new content was released.

It's add ons, you don't want more content? Go play n64 then.
It's add ons, you don't want more content? Go play n64 then.
How much bungie pay u to be a sucker
It's add ons, you don't want more content?
Your perception of content is pretty weak. Guess McDonald's is a gourmet meal to you huh?

I dont mind having to pay for extra cosmetics, not a big deal.

Extra cosmetics aren't the issue. When I go to Five Guys for a burger, I have options for what I want on it. Paying for these extra options isn't horrible because the burger on it's own is awesome. Additional choices and customizations aren't the issue. The issue is Bungie advterising a Five Guys burger and giving us a McDouble. It might taste good and pass off as food but you know they can do better. And if they cannot, then they need to start advertising their actual product. When McDonald's runs an ad saying "100% Beef!" It is the same as Bungie saying "Rich, cinematic storytelling!"

You run video games too?this isn't a new concept

The whole idea of DLC started off with adding additional content to a game. Not removing half the game to later sell to get more money. With all of the money Bungie has made you are telling me they cannot release an actual free event? Something that involves no microtransactions? It's great we are getting events but they have both included subtle hints encouraging people to spend money.

It shouldn't even be counted as more content, this is lazy on Bungie's part, as a game developer, and is quick and easy money. And if you're talking about this paying for the "free content," this only pays for these events like the Festival of the Lost and SRL. This isn't paying for actual new content.
