Yep, shotguns were the safety net in that fight
Gjallerhorn strat didn't work for old gen either

It worked, you needed to be prepared for the death bubble. Hunter with celestial nighthawk took down a bubble, Warlock self rez, titans could pop armor of light to save time to destroy bubble. 2 rounds of gjallarhorn and he was done, pain in the ass though.

Why? Old gen should be the same. (I never did that strategy because I didn't get Gjallarhorn till 800 hours into the game).

On old consoles, there usually is a 5-15 second delay before your inventory menu pops up. Using the gjallerhorn strategy meant you unload a full barrage, pop a heavy immediately and proceed to unload again, all before the eye detains everyone.
