Well "soon" is kind of being generous elite dangerous horizons doesn't even have a release date on Xbox yet so I doubt we will see anything until early summer
So there's none of that spawning lightyears away from my friends BS that No Man's Sky is gonna pull? I can just invite my friends and explore the galaxy together?
It won't be instant. You could each be in an entirely different system across the populated bubble of space, several million systems (assuming you are in the bubble that is, which is most likely). You will have to make your way into the same system as one another.
However, the galaxy map gives you detailed information as to where your friends are on the map at all times. Additionally, you can join a wing with your friends (up to 4 people), making it much easier to find one another. All players start in the same system and branch out from there, so you will more than likely be only a few dozen jumps at most apart at all times. You can easily coordinate a meetup, and do any job in the game together.
You will have to meet up. Dont stray too far from the starter systems if you are waiting on a friend to pick it up. Or if you do, make sure its in a ship that can cover large distances rapidly ;)
There exact location will be on the galaxy map. All players start in close spawns on home worlds.
Pop your friend a wing invite and you'll be able to do really anything together
