I believe there's a way to get potentially infinite exotic shards, by purchasing a year one exotic using 2500 glimmer, upgrading it to full, then dismantling for 2 exotic shards.

I have yet to get 2 shards from any exotic, even fully upgraded ones. And spending 2500 glimmer for a brand new exotic, just to trash it, is ridiculous. (No offence.)

Then spend 13 strange coins and break down one of Xurs exotics. You're complaining about a problem that can quite easily be fixed.

Besides, exotic shards are almost a redundant currency at this stage, so they are more than likely trying to phase them out. Do you see anyone else making a forum post about this? It's a non-issue. Also, not to mention this wouldn't benefit me, or 80% of the destiny community, since the vast majority of us are swimming in exotic shards.
