The toxicity comes from a large group of outspoken people who constantly keep comparing what we got to what we COULD have gotten, or what we SHOULD have gotten. People are never going to be satisfied with Destiny because it's never going to match up to anything that they could possibly imagine it to be in their heads.
I thought Destiny was going to be something more, and what I got was something promising. I'm not going to sit here and cry and whine and complain about Bungie "stealing" my money from my wallet or anything like that. I'm glad to have experienced Destiny for what it is, through all its highs and lows. I haven't, nor will I ever sugarcoat this game to my friends if they ever show interest in purchasing it. It's a fun game, and I enjoyed pouring hours of my life into it. It's far from perfect, and Lord knows there were a ton of low points in the game's still-going lifespan.
People forget what fun in a video game is. Someone's going to reply to this and ask me several questions, all of which pertain to the monotonous grind of Destiny appearing fun to me because I'm a simple sheeple, or a cawadooty fanboy with a short attention span. But what made Destiny fun was everything I did along the way, all the good AND the bad. That's enjoyment, you won't know the good times unless you go through the bad ones. Otherwise, you take it all for granted. Mind you, this is all some profane sounding bullshit when I'm just talking about a game, but oh well.

Actually this game used to be good and they ran it into the ground. It's not what it "could have been", it's what it used to be. I used to be able to ascend my weapons with etheric light (which I spent a lot of time farming btw) and now all that work I put into leveling my gear is -blam!-ing pointless. I mean why play weeks on a game to get a rare gun that you love only to have it made useless or nerfed in the next update? I get they want you to use the "new weapons" ::reskinned old weapons cough cough:: but I shouldn't be forced to and it wasn't that way until TTK dropped. Also, all those expansions we spent money on, WORTHLESS. Why play POE or TDB? I didn't even finish POE before TTK dropped and now what's the point of playing that previous content when it's made obsolete every update? I'm not giving them anymore money to rework the game every time they want to try something out for the -blam!- of it. Have fun grinding for gear that will be useless in a few months!

This exactly. Its not Bungie, its not Activision, its not DeeJ or Cozmo or anything Destiny related. There are far more worse games being released. I mean really look at black ops 3, its the same call of duty and they took half the supers from Destiny. Its all just because people are spoiled as hell. They played this game, loved it, wanted more, and when they find out they need to wait and then pay for it they whine and cause an entire community to make the game the most controversial game ever.
