Comparing Prog Rock to your generic metal band
lmao.
Progressive takes some effort to create, and to play. Listen to 2112 and then listen to Black Sabbath.
May as well be comparing Jaco Pastorius to Mike Dirnt

Jaco pastorious to Mike dirnt? Really? You sound like such a snob. Black sabbath pioneered the metal genre and geezer Butler and Tony loomi were great musicians. Granted they're not on the same level as geddy lee, or alex lifeson but to completely discredit them is ludicrous. You can't really compare the 2 because they're not even the same type of music.

Edited by NOSDAQ: 12/9/2015 2:37:35 AMI'm sorry for coming off that way. I don't mean to be, just trying to make people see things the way I am. I can't listen to music unless it's complex, and a lot of heart goes into it. Listen to Subdivisions, Closer to the Heart, Spirit of Radio, Roll the Bones and so many more. Each song has a deep meaning behind it. I can't say whether Sabbath has that too, because they've never interested me. I agree, you shouldn't compare them, but I wasn't the one who asked.

Oh I'm actually a fan of both. I've heard all of those. Lol. Sabbath isn't a real technical band but their first album is amazing lyrically and musically. Geezer Butler and bill wards parents were actually jazz musicians so there's a lot of jazz undertone throughout the album. But I don't know man. Different strokes for different folks.

Black Sabbath aren't a generic metal band, they literally invented the doom genre.

And did it take much?

Take much what?

Musical talent. Sorry for the triple reply, bad internet.

Well no one had done it before, and it's a sprawling genre now. Iommi's guitar skills can't be denied, especially considering that he doesn't have the tips of his fingers
