To all you nub and uninformed, this is footage of what the game was suppose to be. Before the oroginal designer quit and took his game back to Microsoft. The game you play now, was thrown together in less then a year. The original game took 10 years of development. The original develloper quit when he was told the company {Bungie} was going to sign contract deal with Activision. He knew Activision would bastardize his creation.Would of been one of the greatest games 100% open world, not this limited access to gaming area we have now.

Actually, Bungie as a company changed Destiny. Which then caused the designer to leave. Destiny changing was not a result of him leaving, it was the cause.

Okay, let me educate you and anyone else who reads this. Joseph Staten, the one who quit, was the story and lore writer for the game. He wrote the backstory, and most if not all of the events that would have taken/take place in game, along with the other writers at Bungie. Destiny was not only his creation. Destiny was not in development for ten years, it was closer to 6 at the most. Concepting and random ideas began sometime after Halo 3, but proper pre-production didn't start until after ODST. Production began after Reach, and the game released in 2014. So, in your words, "To all you nub and uninformed" this is actually what happened with regards to Joe Staten's role and the development time. I'm also pretty sure that he didn't "take his game back to microsoft" because Bungie would have full rights to what he wrote for them for Destiny. He also wasn't a game designer, he was a writer, once again.

I'm pretty sure they have stated themselves, drawing board was around the era of Halo 2? Other than that well played, OP clearly isn't quite right in the head.
-
To say he was "just a writer" is belittling his craft. The story Joe and his writers wrote was the essential framework for the game. Because the heads of the studio were unhappy with the demo they threw together and previewed with, that framework was scraped and retooled so close to the originally released date the game was delayed.

I never said he was "just a writer" nor did I belittle his craft. I applaud anyone with the creativity to write new worlds, concepts, and fantastic scenes from nothing besides some inspiration and a blank sheet of paper/page in a writing program. It just so happens Joseph Staten was, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in videogaming because of his work on Halo. And that Grimoire thing Bungie has? Most if not all of it was written by Staten, as far as I'm aware. That is, until they inevitably run out of his material. Which may have happened already, who knows.
