Keep watching. Fanboying over the death of a favorite character isn't worth skipping the rest of an amazing show.

I'll consider it. It's just that the rest of the series looks shit. Like someone else just said, just stop where I am now and then just watch the first movie. I absolutely hate the N and Mello character.. L was such a unique character, his character development was beautifully made in this anime. Possibly the best character creation I've ever seen. After this huge tragedy, N was introduced and it just feels like the story is milking out this beautifully made character. It's basically a copy and I hate the fact how they copied L who was such a unique and new character. Mello on the other hand is just annoying. This while N and Mello thing shouldn't have existed and should've ended how the movie did.

N and Mello Ardmore or less a single character. They represent an insurmountable so stable for light, who keeps getting more arrogant and prideful towards the end. Just keep watching with that in mind. Mello in particular stops being so annoying and ends up as a really good character. Near and Mello are both halves of L. His prodigies.
