This is literally what all video games do that want you to keep playing.
Most people define this phenomenon as "having fun", "creating enjoyment", or "pleasure".
You are clearly a child or new to gaming if you consider this a "treadmill".
There are people that ran WoW raids for weeks to be able to move up to the next raid that they had to run for weeks to move up to the next raid that they had to run for weeks to get the best gear or legendary weapon they wanted. Substitute weeks for months if you have average or poor luck. Games before that had guild leaders that doled out gear based on commitment and playtime, so anyone playing less than 40 hours a week had no chance.
I've gotten everything I've wanted out of Destiny in every expansion and I play probably 20-25 hours a week. I played WoW 40+ hours a week for years and got maybe 10% of the items I wanted.

No. What you are is a fanboi. Most games want to make money, sure. But I have yet to find one as douschy in giving less content for a higher price that is a main title game widely purchased, at least initially. I don't care if you personally like, it, that's fine. But what you like is space invaders with fancy graphics and a lease to play. [i]Even[/i] Call of Duty has better ethics than Destiny. So go on because your comparison only exists in your mind. Every other game I can think of charges less for more content. And you know something? They're doing fine in business, whether you personally like their games or not.

All that being said to me by an idiot who has been flushing down his life 40 the gutter hours a week (!!!) for WoW (which for several reasons I never started to play).
