Not sure of what you are complaining about... The only "mandatory" weapon for the Oryx raid is Touch of Malice and eveyone can get one, even the Black Spindle is in reach of everyone. We are not back to a Crota situation where the Ghorn was "mandatory" but impossible to predict when to get one, since it was purely down to RNG. Getting higher level is even easier now with the raid challenges. My 3 chars went up 2 lvls with the new 320 artifact and weapon.

  • You do not need touch of Malice for the raid. You have proven that by owning the gun.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to do at least part of the raid to get Touch of Malice. So if everybody wants you to have the weapon to do the raid, and getting the weapon requires doing the raid in the first place… Do you see the issue? That's the inherent flaw with Destiny. You have to do the endgame to get the gear, but all too soon, you suddenly have to have the gear to do the endgame. Vicious cycle. Even if it's not Touch of Malice, it's people wanting you already at 310 when you're just trying to get in the raid at all. It's a bad combo of addictive design with overly stingy RNG rewards on a short (in year one) release cycle and shorter story and gear progression arc.

  • I have to agree, to me the two most disappointing things about Destiny is the lack of clan integration into the game. Optional matchmaking would have corrected this situation, but alas neither are in Destiny. The other disappointing thing is the elitism, as you have pointed out. There are a lot of players that rush to level up, run the end game content then become elitist. Again, optional matchmaking would help elminate this situation. A while back someone posted about adding bulletin boards where players could post other players to get into content. There could be separate bulletin boards in the Tower and Reef for different content. Clan recruitment could be added as well. This would enhance the social aspect of Destiny.

ManatuBear, your post doesn't seem to have anything to do with mine. In other words: Apparently you have completely failed to understand what I was saying. Sorry. Tell me, why do you believe did Bungie activate the raid's challenge mode in December? They didn't patch it in, it obviously was there already. The answer is simple: The main purpose is to create positive feedback about the game to make people purchase Destiny for Christmas. "Hey, your efforts in this game finally predictably produce high quality results!" It is just another side of their multi-faceted toolset to bypass the conscious, rational decision processes of human beings.

Guaranteed 320 gear for hard mode challenges is exactly the same concept as getting Etheric Light and weapons and armor from Prison of Elders, except more restrictive on the upgrading gear side, due to the mechanics of infusion.
