It doesnt have bigger impact. Lets get this out the way now, no sniper in game currently is better than spindle. That said, your rr4 is superb and will probably serve you just as well

Ever try a 1KYS or LDR with Triple Tap, Casket Mag, & Spray N Play? Not everyone is lucky enough to get this roll, but the same person will out DPS using one of these versus a Spindle, for a variety of reasons. First, at full bonus to sniper ammo, all 3 snipers can hold 18 rounds. That means Spindle has 18 rounds to do all of it's damage. The other 2 are capable of 7 rounds per mag, 2 of which are free. The reload thanks to spray n play is almost instantaneous. You are talking about 7 free bullets... and that is just running the mag dry with 3 super fast reloads. The real issue comes down to the person using the rifle. Everyone considers ideal conditions, but often something will cause a missed shot. With the Spindle, you have a very long reload. With the other 2 just keep on firing. Also, fire rate becomes an issue. Does a 20% damage bonus make up for a 40% reduction in fire rate? As you can see, there are rifles that can best the Spindle, and by quite a bit, but you have to have a so called "God Roll" and both of these rifles require a fairly skilled marksman using them effectively.

Edited by EARWAK3R: 10/31/2016 1:01:24 AMThere is 'perfect god roll' snipers that may best spindle these days. But your describing damage over time. I was talking dps 'damage per second'. A lot of people cant distinguish the difference in those two statements. Most raid boss dps windows are 30 seconds or so. Back in november when i commented, no sniper could out dps 'damage per second' black spindle in a 30 second dps window. Sure, with no time limit, theres plenty of snipers that would do more damage 'overall' in a non timed situation. But in tiny dps windows, bs does more dps. Because that is where the term 'dps' actually counts.

The Destiny Wiki says otherwise ...

Edited by Benzene21: 11/16/2015 5:45:51 PMDude, just inspect someone that has spindle while you equip eirene and compare stats. Spindle clearly has more impact.
-
Ye and me owning both snipers says otherwise
-
Care to post a screenshot where you compare both guns? I am just curious. :-)
-
Just double checked to make sure. The spindle has higher everything except rate of fire. The rr4 has almost a 3rd more rate of fire on the stat bar.

Edited by EARWAK3R: 11/16/2015 5:16:48 PMNo, im not gonna go to that much trouble to state the obvious buddy. But just watch a planet destiny review or something, it will show you all the numbers and pros and cons on both snipers. Pretty sure there will be numerous vs videos on youtube too comparing the 2, seing as how theyre 2 of the games best 3 snipers. My spindle n rr4 are on my hunter n lock if u wanna check yourself.

The Eirene's impact stat is bugged. It's identical to the 1000 Yard Stare. The only 2 rifles that hit harder are the Stillpierecer (due to the barrels), and the Spindle.
-
How do you know? I compared the Eirene and the 1KYS in the game using Destiny's weapon comparison function, and the Eirene had slightly higher impact.
-
The impact stat is bugged. I have both, and shot the same level enemy with each one. The damage was identical. I was disappointed too, but its fact.
-
I checked several comparisons. Here's what they all said about the guns' impact: 1KYS: 31 Eirene: 34 BS: 37 So yes, contrary to what the wiki says, the BS seems to have more impact than the Eirene, but the Eirene has more impact than the 1KYS (I had the vendor version).
-
What part are you too thick to understand? The impact number is glitched, and shows higher impact than it should. However IN GAME, where it actually matters, it doesn't do any more damage than the 1000 yard Stare. Now, where did I lose you this time?

Edited by Razzupaltuff: 11/16/2015 6:14:26 PMI simply don't trust your personal, very subjective impression that you have gotten from tests in random, e.g. uncontrolled and hence unreliable circumstances. That's all. I would trust an excerpt from a weapons data base. Maybe that's because I work in an engineering environment and have a few decades of professional experience. So no need to insult me just because your personal and / or professional experience is not sufficient to understand other people. So don't insult me by calling me thick, you tw*t.

Look up a video if that's not enough for you. It's all you had to do. I guess it's just to much to ask of you then. Good day.
-
Don't need video, have run the tests ourselvesin the raids, with video to get our conclusions. Wiping on purpose to take accurate damage numbers. Tested other weapons like the Sleeper, Longbow, Eirene RR4, Terminus, and more recently the new Galli. Play with what makes you happy, I'm simply talking plain math based on "real" world #'s. If YOU feel you play better or do more damage with the Spindle, use it. If you feel you play better or do more damage with the Sleeper, use it. If you feel you play better or do more damage with a Rare (blue), use it. Just have fun :)
-
Well, then the fact that the Eirene has better handling (imho) may comfort me a bit ...
-
Hope you picked up the Gunsmiths Triple Tap, Casket Mag, Shoot 2 Loot this week. It is so much fun in the raids and against bosses. Eirene is a great gun too!

Edited by Razzupaltuff: 11/1/2016 1:12:15 AMOh my, what a Necro post. How did you even manage to come across this old thread? I only got back here because I got notified of your reply. I am using the WotM raid sniper, Not But Forgotten or Event Horizon (bigger mag, triple tap) now. My Eirenes got dismantled months ago after having sat in my vault for more months because I found my triple tap 1KYS-s just better.
