I don't think so. Offers a good source for discussion with those who are willing to discuss properly. The only complaint that I have is that the Christians here are letting themselves get stomped on by atheists - you guys need to start engaging these people and stop hiding. Every time I come on here, I see at least 2 threads floating around incriminating Christianity/religion, and its always flooded with atheists sounding all big and bad in the comfort of home territory.

  • Atheists weren't allowed to speak out for thousands of years for fear of their safety. In many places, parts of America included, it's still not a great idea to publicise your lack of faith. Although violence is unlikely these days, it can still cause you all sorts of problems. So you can act like it's cowardly for non believers to hide behind the internet but the truth is it's only because of the Internet that many people feel safe to speak the truth about their doubts.

"Atheists weren't allowed to speak out for ..." -- Yes. I know this. I did not dispute this. Also, I didn't in anyway condemn atheists telling their beliefs, "So you can act like it's cowardly for non believers to hide ...." -- This just goes towards my point. You don't have to speak the truth about your own doubts. You can speak the truth about your own beliefs as well. The internet, as you rightly stated, is one of the best places for stuff like this. That's why I dislike seeing all of these 'critiques of christianity/religion' threads where the only people commenting are atheists.

  • I'm my eyes, while it does create some quality discussions, it still creates a lot more arguments and discrimination. I'd rather have no arguments over it at all. Opportunity costs and all.

  • I could go with that. And you're right, in fact. I do see way more bigoty and whatnot than actual discussion.

Tragic, as it may be, I don't think this community can handle these types of discussions with certain users running amuck. They haven't been able to handle it in the past, and I do not think they'll be able to in the future either. That's why I think they should be ultimately banned from discussions. That's just my opinion.

  • So ban the assholes rather than the subject matter.
