More pointless deaths in the name of religion. The world would be better off without religion. How many untold millions have died because of it? When will the world wake up and realize that religion has to go?

The religion doesn't need to go, just the radical people who use it as an excuse to terrorize the western world (u.s., France, u.k., etc...)

In order to do that we need to get rid of religion by undermining it and pushing it into irrelevance thereby stopping the spread of religion and with it extremism.

That's like saying we need to make knives illegal to prevent stabbing. Stop putting the focus on the religion and look for the people that are bat shit crazy about it. Religion itself can help people get through tough times, and while it probably would remove [i]some[/i] violence, it wouldn't remove a substantial amount.

We control knives, we should ban guns, and we should stop spreading the disease that is religion because it's used to brainwash people into committing terrorism. Even when it's used for good it's used to brainwash people into being good and brainwashing is never good enough to justify the means.

I'm atheist and have plenty of values and morals i've discovered and developed over the years. It's called being a functional member of society. Normal values and morals are taught in plenty of places out of church. Religion has long past served it purpose of instilling values into the birth of a civilization through fear of going against it. The only purpose is has now is as a way for humans to deal with their own morality. But the bad end of the extremes of religion are outweighing any benefits it has.
