What if the goo itself isn't a worm, but the essence of one?
Also what do you make of the patrol beacons where you have to race through the energy signatures coming up from the ground?

I was thinking what if you took a worm, possibly striping it to it's "soul", then extracted the darkness from from to get it's essence. Our light is a physical thing and a part of us, but it isn't our "soul" either, that's who we are (personality, emotions, thoughts, believes, etc)... I'm sorry if I caused offence or don't see things the same way, I didn't mean that and really like your post... But also what do you think of the race patrol, as the energy does look ominous could it be linked somehow to the above?
