The Ahamkara were under the spell of the worms, the same way Oryx is/was. The worms promise great power in exchange for doing their bidding. Oryx himself, in the book of sorrow, comments about how he doesn't like the dragons worshipping the same gods aka the worms. The worms are not all the same, they have some form of individuality. The Ahamkara and their symbiosis with the worms reacted different than Oryx did. Bottom line: The Ahamkara found the Worms. The Hive found the Worms. The Hive and the Ahamkara benefited from the power of the darkness through the worms. Guardians benefit from the power of light through the traveler and his Ghosts.

  • Counterpoint https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/169921880 Also before you bring it up, I addressed the whole Eao thing before. We've found raid items with bits of lore from Awoken, Fallen, and other groups that the Hive have fought, so an Ahamkara-themed item doesn't mean anything, other than that the Hive killed a bunch of them on the Harmony system (which we know they did).
