Whinging aside, there's a logical reason we aren't getting anything more right now.
Respect. Now before you scoff and throw some hate at me, hear me out:
As we are all gamers, we understand that people generally don't just play one game. Some people rotate per week, some people buy and grind the game out for a weekend for achievements/trophies, some people play once or twice a week, some people play a game for a week straight then don't play for a month, some people get stuck on one game for months on end.
There really isn't a set amount of time to play a certain game. Some people who are hugely fans of Destiny might also be a massive fan of Halo or Fallout. Just because they stop Destiny to play Fallout doesn't mean they don't like Destiny, it just means they're playing something else for right now.
As people who design games, they're well aware that their players are probably going to be spread thin what with all these new titles coming out. Not to mention a bunch of 360 games being added to Xbox, I'm personally excited for that.
There's going to be a DLC update in December, they've said that, why do you think they aren't doing it now to try to compete with these other games? To let their players play these games without being torn between both. So when December hits with their update they'll be hoping that people are going to have played enough of the other games to come back to Destiny and see what's new.
Pretty simple, isn't it?

Edited by Sailor_Jaelyn: 11/23/2015 5:27:49 PMI'm pretty sure they're just doing what they've always done, hold on to as much already made content as possible and release it as slowly as possible. They'll probably have some little event or something close to the holidays to try to get you to stick around.
-
For 40$ we've been given a game that has a duckload of new content and vastly improved mechanics, plus more content to be added throughout the year to keep the game interesting. That's really not a negative thing. It shouldn't be a surprise that games want us to keep playing. Why do you think Fallout has DLC coming? To keep people playing once the majority of players have dropped off. Hell, if they released everything all at once y'all would be complaining that there isn't enough, at least this way there's a continued supply of stuff to do for the players that play lots of games.
-
I shoulda been given that for the $100 I already spent.
-
I doubt this very much.
-
This coming from someone with 'boycott a game I'm actively supporting by browsing and commenting in the forums all the time', forgive me for not giving a shit what your opinion is haha. You want to boycott something, don't generate more clicks for the website of what you're boycotting. Don't advertise not to play Destiny. Don't try to boycott something by spending all you're time benefiting it.

Yes I'm sure my few forum posts and sarcastic comments have garnered them many sales.
-
It just makes you look more than a bit foolish, that's all. Spend spare time trolling the game based forums of a game you're boycotting. Not a good look. At least keep it to offtopic.

Edited by Sailor_Jaelyn: 12/11/2015 6:17:38 PMIt's actually more entertaining than playing Destiny.
-
I'm one of those players who plays for months and then puts it down for a while. In fact, I've kind of stepped away from the entire console for now. Partly because StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void is releasing today and I've been replaying the Terran and Zerg campaigns... but also because I've been working on my creative writing. Anyway, my point is, I agree with you. It's completely possible to play multiple games at a time. I've even gone back to my 360 to play Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption a few times. :)
-
Yeah I'm the same. I'm actually a little glad that nothing is getting added to Destiny right now. South Park is coming to Xbone and I'm definitely playing it. Might even try Fallout. Though personally I don't know why so many games are coming out all at once. Friends lists are divided because too many people are playing too many different things.
-
$20 DLC that was probably hashed together that weekend? I'll pass.
-
If we're talking about the DLC that's free in December... It's free.
-
They just announced that DLC won't be free.
-
Edited by ofaDyingStar: 11/11/2015 2:21:52 AMWhere? Because they said they would be giving us an update in December with more content. Nowhere did it say we were paying for it
-
Plus, it's Activision. Their company literally runs on money and greed, so there is no way that they will allow free DLC to exist. how are they going to fund the DLC? Through Emotes?
-
You should always take everything that you read from a source that isn't the publisher with a grain of salt. Even if this article is true, it does not say definitively one way or another. There was no word about it costing anything or not. So you can't make the claim that it says we are paying for this December update when it doesn't. Another reason I'm not inclined to believe this article is because it says that micro transactions were 'very well recieved' when the reactions were mixed. TTK reactions were mixed, why do you think we have so many butthurt people around here that don't play but are more active than actual players? And the last reason I don't believe that we will have to pay for December's DLC (other than the fact that the article said nothing of the sort) is that the weekly updates say otherwise. They haven't named it, they haven't called it a DLC despite it being one, and they haven't told us we will be paying for it. Just to expect an update in December.

Apparently I missed this. I'll reply now: This article does not actually say that we will have DLC in the next few months. It says that both can work. This means that next year there will be another TTK size DLC around the time TTK came out. We knew this, it isn't a surprise. Until they actually say that there's going to be paid DLC before that time, there won't be.
-
For me it feels like I'm done with TTK. There's simply zero incentive to continue playing. Switching to Fo4 today.

It would be kind of silly from a financial perspective to go head to head with Fallout and black ops when you can simply wait a month, let people enjoy those games, perfect your own product, then release it when people are starting to get tired of the games
-
Excellent, thank you! I was a little worried I would get a vicious response to what I said haha I'm glad someone else sees that as well. Why compete? We are all gamers and with all the Fallout hype let them have it.
