Armor materials are 10 to 1 at the very least, it's absurd to even think of selling them at a vendor currently.

Really? I can barely hold onto 150 (I like to re-roll) and there is no point to max experience on disposable rare armor as they take longer than rare weapons and the bonus is only 1-2, not worth it. Adding the option to buy AM is not absurd in the slightest as just like weapon parts, players need for them varies. These two items are like salt and pepper. They're different, but are stored together. They may not be used at the same time always, but they go very much hand in hand. Adding it to the game wouldn't take any more effort than the option to buy WP, it'll just be at our discretion to utilize it.
