There needs to be a game setting to disable all scopes and just display a red/blue/green dot

You mean have them look similar to how the icebreaker sights look? I wouldn't mind that over some of the ones we have now, but i prefer them to have the crosshair lines that allow you to stay on target effectively. It's most likely the reason that the most popular sniper scopes are the short gaze and ambush sights.
