The only thing dedicated servers do is eliminate P2P connections which is HUGE. It makes it so your ping won't go up based on your region, which is nice for me since I live in Alaska and have an excellent connection.
What it does not fix is someone having a bad connection. There will always be lag when there's that guy who is living off his parents who think that anything past a 3mb p/s connection is good enough. That's just networking.

Yet, I'm still waiting to have a laggy game in halo! It's always going to be beneficial, compared to the current mess.

There's not really a laggy game, just laggy people. I've seen people rubber band and teleport around, or a kill of mine will be delayed. I'm not bothered by it at all though because it hardly happens and most people have sufficient connections.

That's hardly the case on my end. Location maybe? I'm in Australia. I'm forever being put into playlists with the US and the UK etc. Check out how many post mortem medals I've got going, that's where it's horrible. I can very confidently say that I've had one day where it was rock solid, and played beautifully all day. but that's it! 1 day without a laggy player to be seen. Besides, if it wasn't a problem that they hadn't already foresaw, they wouldn't have changed how it works for trials. That location based matchmaking needs to be in 100% of all games.

Yes, if you are in Australia connecting to US or UK hosts your ping will go up significantly.
