Last gen and next gen system games are not compatible with one another. Short of a special offer existing, a purchase of a game on one generation, does not grant that game on the other generation.
Destiny has a special offer for Expansions I and II. The taken King and the base game, however, are not part of the offer, and must be purchased separately for any platform on which you want them.

The mentor is correct. You can upgrade Expansion 1 and 2 to the PS4 for free, but you will need a Destiny disc and TTK for the PS4. [spoiler]Just trying to put it into perspective..[/spoiler]
