"My idea is "Ascension" to make the node cost -10 Weapon Parts (which are extinct and harder to get) or Armor Materials -5 Moldering Shards -10 Motes of Light -5 Hadium Flakes" I like your idea, but I'd change the amounts. My idea: -15 weapon/armor materials -10 moldering shards -5 motes of light -10 hadium flakes I think it should be 15 weapon/armor materials instead of 10 because I think it should cost more than it does for infusion. I think it should be 10 moldering shards rather than 5 because I think it should cost a greater proportion of the moldering shards that you get from a single run. I think it should be 5 instead of 10 for motes because I think motes shouldn't be a limiting factor for this, they should just be a necessary but secondary component. Finally, I think 10 instead of 5 hadium flakes since it costs 10 for each upgrade that requires these flakes such as in touch of malice, so I think it should cost the same amount of flakes to increase the light of these items. Basically, I just think it should feel like more of an investment except for motes. Have a great day. Edit: also I think this should only be possible for "harrowed" weapons/armor from hard mode. Again, have a great day.

  • Yeah these are just arbitrary numbers really, i would like it to be with any armor actually. if you could upgrade any gear piece then it would allow for variety in how people look which to me is important. Raid gear looks cool but id prefer the vanguard titan armor any day (makes my dances look so much better i feel). As it is though if they did implement it then id suspect it would be restricted to harrowed gear which would make sense to make that armor more sought after and to give it priority for players to want to earn that and make it so RNG still plays a large part in it.

  • That's fair actually, I revise my statement: it should be limited to items that are within 15 of the light cap. So right now, I think it should be any legendary or exotic item that is at least 305 (this will go up as the light cap increases). Also, for exotics there should be a sort of counter that counts how many times you do this, and every 5th time you do this for an exotic will require an exotic shard.

  • For exotics I would make it every 10 levels requires an exotic shard as a threshold, unless they make it so Xur sells shards again i wouldn't ever get an exotic to 320 except ToM, Spindle, and Raze-Lighter. Going from minimum 280 light to 320 this method would require only 4 shards which means dismantling 4 exotics which i believe is fair enough trade.

  • Well infusion should still be the primary method of increasing the light level which is why I still think it should be every 5. It ensures that you either use infusion or have a quite slow progression.

  • Your numbers are good, but I don't think people want to farm that many hadium flakes. ToM is THE raid exotic currently, and it should cost more flakes per upgrade because of what it is.

I know, I just think it should cost that many flakes for this too because you are able to increase the light of your armor pieces without having to wait for a drop/infusion. You're right that people won't want to farm for those flakes so much, but that's the point. It makes this something you only do if you really want/need it since only then will you be willing to farm; that way you have to think twice before deciding to do this. But this is just my personal opinion on it, not necessarily right or wrong, it's just what I think. Edit: if not 10, I think it could be lowered a little, but I think it should be at least 7 hadium flakes.

  • I understand your reasoning. I'd be happy with it. But there's people out there like myself, who want to collect everything. If I had it my way, I'd have every single piece of raid gear at 320. For all characters. 10 flakes for 1 light... that's a LOT of flakes

  • You're right, but for collectors it should require a lot of farming. However, the more I think about that, 10 flakes does seem excessive. I think 7 flakes would be a good amount.

  • Haha seriously, I feel like it would be a really good addition, and it doesn't allow someone to just shoot up in light level. It takes work since it only increases one piece by 1 light each time. Also it still requires you to do the raid, so it's good and fair.

  • I have a few pipe dreams about light and progression. You cant imagine how many times i wish i could make contact with some1 at bungie and spout my ideas which I believe would improve it and they use them.
