My idea to fix moldering shards was to guarantee the drop off of Oryx be at max light. However, I think yours is a little more practical.

I like it but that would cause the player base to get into the habit of getting to oryx on one character and then get that checkpoint and forget about the other 90 percent of the raid for loot sakes. Bungie would be against that train of thought. Its the same scenario with VoG exotic chest where you would have to wait while people joined and left 3 times so they could increase the chances of getting a year 1 exotic. Can you imagine LFG posts. "Doing oryx three times only must be max light and have max spindle and ToM" Your idea is good but its just a bandaid for the problem. never underestimates the community's desire to circumvent content for quick rewards.

Well, sort of? The drop still requires 20 shards, so only doing oryx wouldn't help that much.

I see your point. That would be good if they made it so oryx HM gives any raid gear and not just his specific loot table, which idk if it works like that anyway.

It does for the shard drop in normal, idk about hard mode. Went through hard mode 3 times (1 for each character), made it to Oryx and then the team disbanded immediately. Haven't beat him yet, and honestly I don't even want to. I know I won't get anything good, so I don't even care to play this game anymore. Just got Halo, and then Battlefront and Fallout are on the horizon. I'll be back when Bungie adds content that actually feels rewarding.
