Eris died in Crota's realm. The person we've been dealing with the whole time is Savathun, Oryx's sister. Think about it:
- "Eris" has no ghost.
- She creates a weapon of Darkness for us (ToM)
- She knows far more than a guardian could about the hive (if she was hiding from them to survive the pit, she wouldn't be learning their rituals)
- She was able to exude control over Crota's own throne world to save us when we screwed up stealing some of his soul. No guardian would have that much can control over a world of Darkness.
Her behavior also fits Savathun's description from the books of sorrow perfectly. She has tricked and corrupted other enemies of the Hive from within during their previous assaults. She has also killed or attempted to kill Oryx hundreds of times since their symbiosis with the Worms, so arming us to kill her brother isn't out of character at all. Lastly, she would have no qualms about killing Oryx permanently in his throne world. Oryx himself mused at the idea of killing his siblings in their throne worlds, and by their sword logic, if one was too weak to stand their ground in their throne world, they deserve to be killed forever.
I firmly believe she will eventually reveal herself to be Oryx's sister. We're not done with the Hive. They are the truest champion of the Darkness we fight, so until Oryx's sisters also die in their throne worlds, we will continue to fight them as a primary enemy.

I do like your theory and it would be a pretty cool heel turn, there are sum points that don't seem too strong for me. Eris doesn't have her ghost, but after the nightstalker quest it shows that it isn't impossible to live without a ghost. Granted that hunter died shortly after but that was because of wounds from the vex. Eris does posses a great amount of knowledge about the hive but I would argue that it's because of Tolan. During their adventure into the pit they were always asking Tolan questions about their enemy. Even when she was surviving in the pit she said that she hung on to Tolan's journal about the hive, which our ghost said was very extensive. As for her creating ToM I do find it interesting that a guardian can make a dark weapon but it isn't something we haven't already seen. We have thorn and bad juju which were made by corrupted (you can argue that Tolan isn't corrupted) guardians so it isn't too impossible for someone who isn't a hive God to make a dark weapon. I do think she was corrupted in some form while in the pit. I'm still on the fence for if that corruption was from eating a worm or not, because of Tolan's journal possibly having info on the worm symbiosis with the hive. I would like to hear you opinion.

That's actually a really good theory.

Holy shit this fits really well! You might have made a believer out of me. Plus she gave us raisins...who the -blam!- does that? PURE EVIL

I know right?! Darkness to the core!!!

I swear bungie makes the sorry vague do people like you will crest a good story for them to use.
-
If they used this idea for actual game content, I would be okay with that! it would make for a great addition to the game!

You should already ask for monetary compensation lol

That makes sense!

Where the hell did you find this info?

The books of sorrow. Probably my favorite bit of story in the game! I just don't buy it that Eris somehow gained the Hive's magic to the point that she can control the very nature of Crota's throne world. It seems more likely that she actually died in his realm and that Savathun took her place to subvert the Guardians and test her brother Oryx through us. Her worm demands that she feed it with her cunning, and how better could she do that then by literally using the light against Oryx? If this turns out to be true, it would also make for a pretty epic apocalyptic DLC, where Eris/Savathun commits an attack on the city and traveler itself, and we have to track her down and kill her in her throne world!

she went into a black hole

This is tier 1

That would make sense because of her cloth covering her face and the three glowing eyes. And savathun or whatever mastered cunning, so tricking us to kill might be a way of us tithing power to her worm to keep her alive.

Pretty much! The books say they parted ways, but it would make sense for that to also be a trick for her to play on Oryx to try to kill him again.
