I don't waste strange coins on buying engrams. I use the coins to but three of coin and then go farm taken champions for the exotic engrams. Works out to be about the same cost as buying that engrams from xur, and thwre is more exotic engrams possible anyway.

I have a bunch of ToC as well, although I'm debating whether to use them with these engrams in the shape they are...

It's better to use them in strikes and open world, and saves the disappointment from when you don't get what you want from xur...
