I make 11k a year working part time. I got a 100k a year job offer i had to turn down because it involved traveling to job sites for up to 6 months at a time. i have a son so i couldnt do that. Both jobs are american companies but my part time job is actually a government funded non-profit. Oh and if you wana blame trade agreements look up the norther pass project. It promises to create tons of jobs in america and Canada but the jobless hillbillies up here are cock blocking them because its gonna ruin their view of the trees and somehow take away the jobs they dont have Edit: id also like to point out my friends who bitch about not being able to make money never went to college or dropped out and spend all their spare cash on pot. If you smoke $5k a year dont expect to have any more left for a car kids.

  • None of my business, but I think the 100k a year would benefit your child more than the extra time. Especially considering the alternative is 11k/Year which is nowhere near enough income to raise a child.

  • You would be surprised how far 11k goes in my broke ass home town. Ill be able to afford a house next summer. For part time work its some of the best in the area. My son, when me and my girlfriend are not around, has a mostly absent mother and is raised by his 18 year old uncle or his 38 year old 2 pack a day unemployed grandmother. They moved 7 times since he was born not even a year and a half ago and i think the constant change is upsetting him. He needs a stable home and father more than he needs money right now. He eats well and has more toys than he uses, the only one who would live better is his mother who would get 18-25k a year in child support.

  • I think the GTR is a great financial decision, you could give to your son as well, but yea you would never see him. If you didn't have a family then that would be perfect though

  • It would be a great job if i was on my own. Plus id travel everywhere on company money. They have customers in europe and china. 2 years ago the travel would have been a huge perk

  • That's what I do. Pay is insane, and there are almost zero upfront living expenses. Even food and laundry gets reimbursed by the company. But what your situation implies is true. You absolutely cannot have a family because the job will force itself to be the priority. It's not possible to manage the two.
