STOP PUBLICIZING THE DAMN THINGS!
Honestly, the reason there's been such a massive spike in them is because every time there is one it gets blasted all over the country, and even if they don't directly say the perpetrators name or face, they still win by getting a moment in the spotlight. So keep the news of shootings local, so that the community and not the country can grieve.

I agree with this. I think some shooters failed at something in life and some how wanted to manifest their failures into a "successful" action and to be recognized by those actions. Sad thing is is that they get Wikipedia pages of themselves, while the worthy cops and teachers who kept children from being killed hardly get any notoriety in the scheme of things.
