I main a hunter and sometimes I'm not quick enough to beat someone else to grabbing the relic. Whenever that happens I'll switch to my sword and use the block to become a meat shield for whomever grabbed the relic lol. Works great.

That could be an interesting tactic for a non-hunter too. Have them distract the mobs while the relic holder moves around them.
