That really doesn't always work out though. Yesterday one of the randoms was on a nightstalker, so I let them get it and all they did was use smoke screen to go invisible and stand around near me and the other random.... I'm not sure if they were trolling or really thought they were doing well but it was pretty sad.

That is probably just wishful thinking, but I guess I'll give him/her the benefit of the doubt. I ended up doing another strike with that group right after and that person cheesed the warsat, rushed past mobs to kill and didn't wait for people to be ready before starting things. My guess is they are just someone who is used to cheesing stuff where possible and when something takes them actually figuring it out, they fail terribly.
